The Matrix Community Privacy Statement

The Matrix Community is a firm advocate for privacy on the Internet and all its subnetworks. This policy is in place to inform users how the information they submit to the site is used. This document also elucidates our Children's Online Protection policy, online advertising, and content submission.

Automatically Logged Information

As soon as you register for the message boards, your IP is logged by the software. The software also writes your IP address to a file whenever you post at the message board. Your IP address is also used to determine what country you are visiting from by this site's statistics tracker.

Cookies

This site uses cookies to store your login information so you don't have to re-enter it each time you wish to use an interactive part of the site, such as posting at the message boards. The cookie is deleted automatically when you click the "log out" link. You can also clear all cookies set by the board manually in your profile [this operation will log you out as well].

Advertisers

The Matrix Community has no paid advertising anywhere on the site.

Message Board Registration

This site's message board requires users to give contact information (login name and e-mail address), and collects optional demographic information. You do not need to use your real name as your login name or display name. You must provide a valid [working] email address in order to receive your board password. All other personal information is optional.

Contact information is used only for the purpose of allowing other users to be able to contact you. You have the ability to not show your e-mail address and refuse communication from other users, including the board administrators. Please note that board administrators [but not board moderators] will be able to see your e-mail address at any time. This is neccessary if it is ever pertinent for an administrator to contact you with regards to your posting at the boards.

External Links

This site contains links to other sites. The Matrix Community is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such Web sites.

Submitting Material to The Matrix Community

You retain the copyright to any original material you post at the boards. The Matrix Community is not responsible for breaches of copyright committed by its users. If you post material that is copyrighted by someone else, and fail to attach a copyright notice, it is your responsibility to deal with.

Discussion postings will be deleted only if they are exact duplicates of existing postings and there has been no separate discussion ongoing in the duplicate posting. Any other instance of post/thread deletion is considered abuse.

Public Forums

This site makes message boards available to its users. Please remember that any information that is disclosed in these areas becomes public information and you should exercise caution when deciding to disclose your personal information. The Matrix Community assumes no responsibility for your personal information if you post it in the forums.

Posting personal information about anyone other than yourself is considered against netiquette and may be moderated. Do not post phone numbers, addresses, or e-mail addresses of private individuals other than yourself for any reason. Business e-mail/numbers/addresses may be posted if the business has made those things public.

Children's Online Protection

The Matrix Community message board postings occasionally contain foul language, descriptions of graphic violence, mature content, and other topics some parents may find unsuitable for young children under 13 years of age. We are family-friendly in spirit (many of our members have young children), but freedom of expression rules at this place.

Security

This site has security measures in place to protect the misuse or alteration of the information under this site's control. If you believe the security of your account has been compromised, please notify administration immediately.

Please be aware that if you attempt to compromise the security of this site or abuse the site in any manner, your personal information [including but not limited to any information you have provided during registration, your IP address, your contact information, or information about you we obtain from other public sources] may be used to obtain evidence against you by the site administrators.
